diagonally unfolding
in rows like crescendos

elegantly rolling
toward unforetold
unfurling fiascos
of the narrowly focused

being experienced
as shootings before tea
and mortars at dawn

while donning tight uniforms
yet getting foreshortened
by extreme caution

carved out of the long-
and-the-short of it all
along arbitrary borders
of obligatory sing-songy stories...
