as gun runners
being played for chumps
like one-beloved
children of summer

becoming hush-hushed
unspoken and unsung
deepening gulfs
between deeds and things
recorded in gilded ink
on threadbare transparency

filling infirmaries
with eye witnesses
to barely whispering
yet essentially clinched
arm-bearing policies for toddlers

with last-gasp trajedies
upon finding and fatally firing
legally lethal parental weapons
in explosive rifts of innocence
self-inflicted by the tiniest of fingers
while releasing hair triggers...
